I Am in Control Day

By March 29, 2012

Follow me on:

March 30th is "I Am in Control Day." The day has an interesting history, going back to the day that a would-be assassin short President Reagan. The focus of the day has shifted a bit since then. What it means now is that you can use the day as an opportunity to take control of your life.

It can be a good day, too, to help your children learn to take control of their lives. They can sometimes feel overwhelmed by all the work they have to do, and that just makes intense kids even more intense. One good way to help your child take control is to help him or her set realistic goals and create plans to reach them.

The goals can be long-term, like preparing for college, or they can be short-term, like getting classwork organized. Making a list of what needs to be done and then creating a plan on how to get it done can help your child take control - and feel a lot less stress.
