I am REALLY excited about this one. Last August, I blogged about some free Wednesday Webinars from the National Association for Gifted Children. But NAGC has just gone a step farther. It is now possible to attend one full day of the NAGC convention -- online. Yes, online -- no travel, no hotel costs, no babysitting worries.
And if you're thinking in terms of one or two sessions, think bigger. The virtual convention is limited to select sessions, but those session include a full day of sessions! The first session starts at 8:30, with Howard Gardner (multiple intelligences) as the presenter. Other presenters throughout the day include Francois Gagne (I love his view of giftedness), Carolyn Coil (underacheivement), Joseph Renzulli, Sally Reis, and a host of others. The last session ends at 4:15.
The topics are vast and wide ranging from underachievement to advocacy to misdiagnosis to understanding standardized testing to... well you can see the range. So you're probably thinking, "Okay, so it's online and I don't have to worry about travel costs, but with all that I'm sure it's still expensive." That's what I thought. If you are an NAGC member, the cost is only $79. That is a real bargain, believe me. If you aren't a member, the cost is just $99. This is live access, people. Not slides. Not handouts. Live, real-time access.
If you want more -- there's more? -- for another $100 you can also get access to other sessions of the conference that will be recorded throughout the conference, not just these Saturday sessions. That sounds like a lot, but as someone who went to an NAGC conference and spent lots of money for a few recordings, I assure you that is a really good deal.
See why I'm so excited? If you want to know more about the Virtual convention and about the sessions offered, visit the NAGC Virtual Conference Web site. If you're interested, the Virtual Conference takes place on Saturday, November 7th. Registration closes at noon on November 6th.
