We hear so many complaints about teachers that we sometimes forget that there are some excellent teachers out there. My son had an exceptional teacher in preschool. Her name is Janet Marovich. She made every child feel special and managed to provide what each child needed. She did it effortlessly and without the need for endless meetings with parents. She recognized the individual needs of each child and did everything she could to see those needs were met.

Ms. O' Connor

My French teacher is fantastic, she was the first of my senior school teachers to notice I am gifted and started giving me French novels to read in only my second year of studying the language, now, in my third year she has tested me at leaving certificate level, I am due to sit my junior certificate this year and the leaving certificate in 3 years time. She is an excellent teacher and allows me to work at my own pace, I feel she understands me and is always there for me to talk to if I have any problems or even just for an intellectual conversation for once

A Model for Teachers of Young Children

Our Ms. Eaddy at McDougle Elementary, NC, was the one who recognized that our son is intense, bright, and gifted. She sought first to understand, then be understood. He absolutely thrived in her class, and was nominated into the gifted nurturing program that year. Her approach of loving and understanding is one that we should all strive for. I cannot thank her enough.

How does she do it?

How does Mrs. Jennifer Klein, Special Ed. department at Clover Hill High School, do it all? She is also my sons left arm, his counselor and friend. I consider her my friend as well, my confident and comforter. She wears many hats with grace - beautiful inside and out. I can't think of Jennifer without wondering, "HOW" and the answer is always. she does it with "Love". She has the ability to brighten the room. I leave with a warm feeling that my son is in the best hands. I mean that literally. you see my son is a quite the challenge when it comes to school, he's restless, excitable and hard to keep awake. It's as if she doesn't notice and continues to accentuate the positives. Jenniffer's desire is to teach, not torture and criticize. Bless her heart, she had my older for the past 3 or 4 years - Sweet and kind, goes the extra mile. over and over in everything she does. I've heard we human aren't perfect, Jennifer has to be the exception. You just have to"Love" her back".

Our Exceptional Teacher

Mrs. Morehead and Mrs. O'Hara: in 1st grade, Mrs. Morehead asked at a staff meeting if there was anything the school could do for a handful of kids who were way beyond the math curriculum. Mrs. O'Hara offered up her prep period 3 times a week to take them through the 4th grade curriculum, at their depth and pace (some like my son were still learning to read). My son was THRILLED to be learning -- they even stepped into algebra. Mrs. O'Hara had at one time taught the gifted class, which doesn't start till 3rd grade, so she was happy to be involved with these kids. 2nd grade was a wash, 3rd grade the official replacement math classes FINALLY started. In 4th grade, the "O'Hara 5" were all together again; but the kids were also in the gifted math replacement class, so they didn't spend as much time with Mrs. O'Hara as they -- and she -- would have liked.

favorite teacher

My son's kindergarten teacher was a parent's dream come true. We suspected he might be gifted before he went to school. One day his teacher Janet Harris encouraged him to finish building a rocket using the instruction sheet and legos, even though it was time to clean up and go to another subject area. It was a task suited for a much older child. She reported his accomplishment to us and was always very pleased with his work. She was sensitive to all her students needs. I am still thankful for her and he was accepted into the STEM Academy at a local high school this year.
