Maintaining control at home means that the household runs smoothly and is free of chaos. One factor that can create chaos is the constant arguing that some gifted kids engage in. No matter how clever you may think your little lawyer is with his debating techniques, if you respond to the arguing by arguing back, you end up making matters worse. So what works? Here are some strategies from parents who've "been there and done that"! Share your strategy

Hi, being a gifted child myself, I have to agree with a lot that you said here. I have been researching gifted children qualities and have had at least 25 'oh that's why I do that' moments. I didn't know that the reason I found many things unfair was because I was gifted. Everyone ignored my protests and made fun of me for them so up til now I believed myself a brat. Thank you for clearing that up. My favorite part of this article is when you say 'Gifted children can usually find something else to do to replace whatever privilege you have taken away, so its loss becomes meaningless.' because it is so true. grounding doesn't really help - especially for me. If she takes away my iPod - half the stuff I do on it I can do on the computer. Or I can just read a book. Grounding me to my room doesn't work cuz I'm here all the time anyway. And she can't take away my friends cuz I only have my best friend and I only see her at church. To take her away she would have to take church away.
