Plan a Staycation

By June 22, 2013

Follow me on:

Money can be hard to come by these days.  Gas isn't cheap and then there are the costs of hotels and food while on the road.  And that's not counting the money you need to spend at your destination.   Don't feel like you have to give up on a vacation, though.  Instead, plan a "staycation." A staycation is a vacation that takes place at home. That is, rather than traveling away from home, families vacation at home.

The key to a staycation is to treat it as you would a vacation. That means that rather than stay at home and do the usual home activities, plan it as you would any other vacation and that includes a beginning and end date. No cleaning, no laundry, and just a minimal amount of cooking will help, too, give your staycation the feeling of a real vacation.

This is an awesome idea! We are trying SOOOO hard to save money for our dream house, yet we want/need to take a vacation. We have horses, chickens and cats that have to be taken care of so anything we were planning to do was only for a day or two. This way we can plan a whole week of activities close to home and take care of our animal friends. We plan to buy a large tent, put it up somewhere on our acreage and let our three children invite one friend each to go on “stacation” with us. Thanks so much for the wonderful idea.
