A new website has been launched: The Bright Kids Club. It was created by Dave Sloan, a Mensa testing officer located in South Africa. He was motivated to create the site to help gifted kids understand that they are not alone. It is a place where they can meet and interact with other kids under age 16.
Sloan offers a forum where gifted kids can talk on a wide range of topics. He says he's going to monitor the forum until the job gets to be too much for him to handle alone and then he plans to have other Mensa members help him.
He charges a small monthly fee for kids to access the forums, but I don't think that's a bad thing. Few people are going to want to spend the money just to "goof around" or pick fights and insult others. It will be interesting to see how the forum develops. Since many gifted kids don't have an opportunity to find and spend time with other gifted kids, I'm always in favor of ways to get them together!
