Fighting for GT Kids in Court

By , About.com GuideOctober 7, 2010

Follow me on:

Are parents of gifted kids tired of waiting for schools to meet the academic needs of their children? If the parents of gifted kids in Madison County in Wisconsin are any indication, the answer to that question is "yes."

A group of parents has filed a formal complaint against their school district. The complaint, filed with the Department of Public Instruction, states that the district has failed to provide an appropriate education for all students, something it is obligated to do.

Would you be willing to take legal action in order to get your child's needs met?  Share your thoughts!

Heck, yeah! 14th Amendment (Equal Protection Under the Law)… if you require ‘em to go to school (public school, especially) then you have to educate ‘em appropriately (all of ‘em). We have a right to be a minority, not have a popular opinion or otherwise the freedom to do as we see fit… ALL of us. Funny that opponents of gifted education preach “Education for ALL children, not just SOME children!” because the gifted are part of ALL children and have a right to an education like everyone else… even if left/liberal “eduacators” feel they have “too much” already and would rather not help them “get ahead” any more.
