Easter Activity for Young Readers

Saturday March 15, 2008
Do you have a young reader at home? Do you celebrate Easter? If you answered "yes" to each of those questions, you might want to give your Easter egg hunt a literary twist. Instead of hiding colored eggs for your child to find, get some hollow plastic eggs and create a Fun Egg Hunt for Readers.

Even if you don't celebrate Easter, you can alter the activity. It can be a kind of a scavenger hunt. Instead of finding different items on a list, however, kids start with one note, and read the directions to find the next one. It's also a fun way to give readers a present -- the last note leads to the gift.

If your child is not a reader, you can alter the activity for them. For example, you can draw maps to lead a child from one spot to another. Just use your imagination!
