Worldwide Focus on Gifted Children

Follow me on:

In my previous blog, I had discussed an article the bemoaned the lack of attention paid to gifted children in schools in Britain. I wanted to point out that the plight of gifted children is not exclusive to the United States. Nutz responded by explaining that the schools her children went to in the States did a good job, while the schools her gifted children were attending in Dubai were not doing so well. And yet, in Dubai some do recognize that gifted children need attention. In one election, a candidate ran on a platform, which in part called for just that (Candidate vows to pay more attention to bright children).

I'm certainly not questioning Nutz's statement that her gifted children fared better in their American schools. However, there are plenty of gifted children in the U.S. whose needs are not being met.

The point I want to make is that gifted children exist all over the world and that they encounter similar problems all over the world. But then there are people all over the world who are advocating for them. There are state organizations in the United States as well as organizations throughout the world. There is even a World Council for Gifted and Talented Children. Perhaps one day gifted children the world over will get the understanding and the attention they need.
